I feel like Netflix added so many great things in May and June. I added about twelve things to my queue, and just in time because I was starting to feel a bit bored with the selection. I do miss the days when Netflix was mostly movies. Sometimes I just want a contained story I can watch in one sitting.
What are you currently watching? Of late, I’ve been trying to get through the 2nd season of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. I love this darker take on the comics. I also loved the 90s comedy, though obviously for different reasons. One thing that hasn’t changed, however: I love Salem. Particularly the conversations Sabrina has with him. Somehow, the fact that he can’t talk in this iteration just makes it even funnier.
Once I finish with that, I’ll be moving on to the new version of Charmed. I am obsessed with the original, so I can’t wait to see what changes were made for the remake (I’m not exaggerating here. I have the complete series on DVD, Book of Shadows Edition, and I rewatch it about once a year. Yes, all 8 seasons).
So yeah, I love a good witchy tv show. Do you have a favorite? I’ve got several saved in my queue, but haven’t gotten to them yet.
Outside of Netflix, I’ve been rewatching Card Captor Sakura on Crunchyroll. This is one of my favorite anime of all time, and when I found out a new series had been made (Clear Card–yes, I am behind), I had to rewatch the original before I felt comfortable moving on to the new one. I’m about 1/3 of the way through my rewatch. One thing I love about Crunchyroll is that you can watch free of charge, but if you do pay the $9.99/month for a subscription, it removes the ads and enables you to have a playlist/queue that you can customize. One of my pet peeves with Netflix is that I can’t organize my queue or sort it in any way, and it seems to randomly shuffle.
One thing I’ve been looking for is ocean or surfing related stuff to watch. My current WIP involves a surfer, and I tend to get REALLY INTO whatever my books are about. When I was writing OFF THE RAILS, I listened to Civil War era music, did my hair in a Victorian style, and started researching food of the era.
I don’t live near the ocean or anything, which means the desire to watch stuff about the coast is very strong right now. I can only listen to the same Beach Boys CD so many times. Do you have a show or movie set on or near a beach you love?
